I considered a number of ways to get started with the
Signature Style Project, but to be honest, there was only room for one result. I LOVE research. I enjoy a good outline, I like journaling, cutting things out, tacking them to a bulletin board or taping them to a wall and then trying to make sense of them. It's what I do.
Fortunately,
Pinterest has allowed me to streamline that process a little so I can share it with you ;)
So here's what I've done so far:
First, I scoured pinterest and the internet for style images that appealed to me. I did not censor myself or exclude anything. I went on gut reaction. If I liked it, it got pinned.
Then, I opened up my
pinterest bulletin board for The Signature Style Project and started jotting down what things in each image evoked a feeling of joy or pleasure. (And when I say jotted, I do mean with pen and paper..I have a collection of journals..an obsession for another time..) Here's what I got:
- Fur
- Primary colors and jewel tones
- feminine details
- ruffles
- peter pan collars
- full skirts
- pencil skirts
- Sailor/military style embellishments
- Hats, hats, hats..
- late 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950's, early 60's
- Edwardian style
- ...more fur..
- Things that create an hourglass shape
- Shoes with a heel (no flats for me!)
- Whimsy
- Retro pin up
- Red lips
- Looonnnng eyelashes
- Rosy cheeks
- Gloves and fingerless mitts
- An unexpected mix of complementing colors
And here are some of the images I pinned that I favored the most:
Now it's your turn!
Go forth and discover what images appeal to you. Let me know what you love ;)
Hugs and Smooches,
D
You have collected so many great images! Wouldn't it be fantastic to do a sew along or knit-along inspired by some of your photos? I love most of your inspiration - so just about anything would spark my interest.
