Create 365 - Chunky Crochet Scarf

I took a quick break from my crochet hat project to whip up a chunky scarf.  I love working with bulky weight yarn and large crochet hooks..projects work up so much faster and I get a little sense of accomplishment to keep propelling me forward on my other projects!

Outfit Post - Mary Jane

My apologies, friends, for the slightly lackluster outfit post..I have been channeling all my creative energy into creating holiday gifts and find that it is sapping my wardrobe creativity a bit..(Confession..I did not want to take off my vintage MTV hoodie and yoga pants today..I might have cried a little.)

I'm also finding that I've put on a little "winter fluff".  I tend to crave comfort foods as the cold weather rolls in and it makes it a bit harder to throw an outfit together when some of my clothes have become a little too snug ;)

Never fear!  I have a few vacation days coming up that I will be devoting to finishing up all my holiday preparations and then I should be right as rain.

Outfit Post - Seafoam

This was a surprise sweater..I totally forgot I had it in my wardrobe :)  I LOVE this shade of seafoam green..I think perhaps I  need to find some more to add to my collection!

Outfit Post - Jiminy Cricket!

I love this little cricket brooch.  He was a gift from my Mum and he makes me think of Jiminy Cricket.  He's my conscience ;)

I put a picture of the back of my hair in this post because I wanted to share how easy it is to have an "updo" even with short hair!  I pulled it back in a banana clip (you recall those from the 80's, yes?) and pinned strands of hair around the clip to cover it.  That's it!  It even catches the shorter hairs at the base of my neck :)

Outfit Post - I Never Promised You a Rose Garden

Today I'm wearing a maxi dress because I didn't want to wear anything "binding".  I'm allergic to gluten, but I'm terrible about sticking to a gluten free diet (I sooooo love a good cupcake..)  Sadly, as tasty as gluten is, it makes me feel achy and bloated.  Sooo I've decided with the warmer weather heading our way, the last thing I want is to feel yucky.  Today I begin a "detox diet".  Wish me luck :)

Style It - Chessie the Cat Scarf

Today's style it features a great gift idea, The Chessie the Cat Scarf. Book Review - A Stitch in Time v. 1

 This book is without question my FAVORITE vintage knitting pattern book of all time.  Susan Crawford does an absolutely beautiful job with this collection of actual vintage patterns that she has put into an easy to read format with the most stunning photographs you've ever seen.

Fortunately, Susan also has a Ravelry account where you can go take a peek at some of the items you can create from the patterns in the book.  Here are some of my favorites:

I'm in the process of working on this one below.  I've got a back and two sleeves :)  I had meant to complete it for the fall, but I kept getting caught up in other projects.  I've put it aside to work on holiday projects for now, but I'm excited to complete it.  Those cold winter months are perfect for knitting by the fire!
