Outfit Post - Be Mine

Sorry to have been a bit MIA here, darling ones.  I came down with an awful flu about three weeks ago that I couldn't seem to shake..and then it turned into pneumonia (yuck!).  I'm finally on the mend and starting to feel human again, so I was moved to post my outfit for the day :)

Create 365 is moving right along, though at a slower pace than I anticipated before getting ill!  I have been working on writing my very first fair isle knitting pattern for a pair of wristwarmers and I hope to complete them and have the pattern up here on the blog very soon.

Wishing you all a love filled Valentine's Day!

The Reading Corner - Knitting Vintage

I have a small (LARGE) pattern addiction.  Sewing patterns, knitting patterns, crochet patterns, modern, vintage, doesn't matter.  I'm pretty sure I will never be able to complete all of them in my lifetime..but I just like to know they're there when inspiration strikes.  (Don't even get me started on my fabric hoard..)

So, of course, when I saw Knitting Vintage, I had to purchase it.

Amazon
It did not disappoint.  There are a number of really cute, wearable vintage inspired knitting patterns in this book (minus the headache of trying to size up or down a vintage pattern, or figure out what types of yarn are suitable.)

The book is broken down by decade from the 1920's to the 1980's and includes patterns for everything from cardigans and sweaters to collars and cloche hats.

I found the patterns really easy to follow, and the pictures are absolutely gorgeous.

I've added the pattern for the crochet collar to the Create 365 project.  I'm making it in a really pretty lace weight pale gold yarn with tiny gold sequins.  Looking forward to sharing the end result!

Outfit Post - Cafe au Lait

Still sticking with my neutrals for now..could be as a result of the "hideous holiday sweater" I wore yesterday for a holiday party ;)  I'm still detoxing from the ugliness..

Outfit Post - Oranges and Leopards

Today, I included a picture of my coat, because it's one of my absolute faaaavorites!  I got it at an estate sale last year, and the fabric is an amazing tapestry of browns and blacks.  Plus, it's SUPER cozy :)

Outfit Post - Wine with Everything

Wine is my new color obsession.  Especially in rich textured fabrics like wool and velvet.  I plan to add a lot of it to my winter wardrobe this year :)

Outfit Post - Absinthe

Up until a few years ago, I firmly believed that I could not wear the color green, as I was certain it washed me out and gave my skin a yellow cast.  Until I discovered this particularly vibrant shade (kelly green, maybe?) that brightens up my face and makes my eyes look peacock blue.  Now I'm totally in love with it ;-)

Do you have a particular shade that you like to wear?

Outfit Post - Tardy!

I was running SO late this morning.  Of course, my cats refused to be corralled inside the house, my daughter forgot hercello and both of my girls decided to move at a pace that would make a snail look like an olympic runner.  Fortunately, I plan my outfits the evening before, but what to do with my soggy hair??  It just BARELY made it back into a ponytail and I held it all in place with a scarf (that I just noticed this morning goes remarkably well with this dress.  PHEW!

Outfit Post - Tangerine and Green

My curls turned out MUCH better today, though I had different plans for my bangs..  The lovely Casey over at Elegant Musings cut her bangs recently and had created a pinterest board of different ways to wear bangs.  Since my general default is either straight, or pushed to the side when they get too long, I figured I'd give some fun curly bangs a whirl...Fail.  BIG fail.  I looked like a poodle, so I shellacked them to the side.  I think I'll practice a bit more with different ways of curling them before I debut a new bang look ;-)

Outfit Post - Poppies!

I'm finding one of the perks of doing these outfit posts is that I get a realllyyy good look at what I'm wearing and how it works overall.  I tend to gravitate towards color (like the red in this dress, and the poppies on the cardigan..my favorite flower!)  However, I think now that I can look at this outfit objectively, the shape is probably not the best for me.  As a VERY petite (4'11") curvy gal, it's important to define the waist so I have a shape, and this dress does me no favors!  It's a good lesson in proportions ;)

Outfit Post - Butterfly Garden

I love the colors of this dress, and it has huuuge pockets, but it needed a little "something", which is why I was so delighted to discover this pretty collar at The Market Darling.  It's just what I needed!  The print is a pretty paisley made up of butterflies and polka dots, so I whipped up a pair of earrings to match as well.  You can purchase a pair in my shop here.

Outfit Post - The Ladybug :)

This weekend I finished changing out my summer and winter wardrobes.  (*Phew* What a lot of work!)  I realized that I have a LOT of red in my wardrobe and 7 (yes SEVEN) white summer dresses.  I'm going to have to work on adding a little more color variety ;)

In the meantime..Here is my outfit post for today, with my favorite ladybug brooch.  Isn't she sweet?

Today's Style It is an adorable pair of Rockabilly style Oxford Shoes from my shop.  My favorite feature is the striped laces :)

The first outfit is a feminine fox-inspired outfit, the second a menswear style (still with a little fox inspiration..can you tell what my latest obsession is?)
