Book Review: 1940's Look

The 1940's are quite possibly my favorite decade..followed closely by the 1950's..and the early 60's..  Oh, fine, I love pretty much everything prior to 1970 ;)

However, if you are a fan of the 40's and are looking for a fantastic resource on the look of the 1940's this is the book for you!

The pictures are gorgeous, there are some neat historical tidbits and one of my favorite items is easy to follow instructions on how to make a beanie cap by tracing your iron.  (SO simple!  Trace the shape of your iron, cut four pattern pieces out of wool, felt, or tweed, etc., stitch together on all sides, line and voila!  a beanie hat!  How cute :)

Disclaimer:  I honestly wouldn't have thought twice about this if I hadn't read the book reviews on Amazon, but there is a tasteful black and white photo of a nude woman on the back cover that some reviewers found offensive (one even used the word pornographic!)  and felt should be hidden from children.  Personally, I have no issues with the human form as long as it's displayed tactfully, but to each his or her own!

Hugs and Smooches,
D
