On a mission..

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~Marianne Williamson~

I've been thinking a lot about missions lately..mission statements to be exact.  Like most of the things I do, ConstantlyAlice was a gut instinct..a jump first, figure it out later sort of venture.  So far, it has been pretty successful.  I've managed to find my way by instinct and question asking and a lot of reading.
However, I've reached a point where I'd like to grow..to take ConstantlyAlice from a part time venture to a full time career.  So I've gone back to the drawing board..and that means a business plan..and a mission statement.
Alice Hanley
My original inspiration came from my love of my Grandmothers, Constance and Alice.  Amazing, passionate, creative, beautiful women, they were, and will continue to be, my touchstone as I forge ahead.  As I focused on what they meant to me, their influence on my passion for vintage, history, literature, crafts, creativity, it came to me.  What I really wanted ConstantlyAlice to be was a lifestyle.
Constance Beaudette
I want my business to be reminding you that you are an individual and to give you a way to express that through the products I provide.  I want ConstantlyAlice to remind you to be joyful, whimsical and unique.  I want to inspire you to remember the person you knew you were as a child with playful items that hint at fairytales and well loved stories.  I want to encourage you to play dress up every day and allow your heart to take the lead when it comes to making style choices.
Me
The ConstantlyAlice mission is to provide you with the tools to let you be who you are...to help you to let your light shine.
Hugs and Smooches,
D

  1. Great post! I know that out-of-the-blue I'll have this all-encompassing panic that I'm not doing anything worthwhile in my life. Then I slow down and think that God has a plan for me and that I'm at because I'm meant to be here. My mother has always told us that things, good and bad, happen for a reason.
I'm glad that you have reached that point in your life. I feel like I'm in my early 20's instead of late 20's. Like life has just started.

    1. I work at a music school and one of my favorite and most inspiring people was a 93 year old woman who just decided to start taking piano lessons. You're never too old to begin learning who you are <3
